Main content start

Congratulations to Art of Science 2024 Winners! Sean Littleton’s “Woodworking with the Controlled Chaos of High Voltage Discharges” won this year competition first place. The beautiful charred patterns on the bench were created by a high voltage applied to the wood surface coated with conductive solution. Emily Ellefson took the second place with their “Stereisporites antiquaporites study”. The microscopic image illustrates the cross section of a rock bearing the Stereisporites antiquaporites fossil with an interesting three-fold symmetry. Third place belongs to Camila Bolle’s “Nail deGrasse Tyson” which showcases different science fields painted skillfully on ten nail tips. Rajat Vadiraj Dwaraknath won over People’s Choice with their “Conway’s Trees of Life – A Garden of Computational Irreducibility”. The colorful sculptures were 3D printed based on the Game of Life mathematical model of predicting the evolution of cells.

This year, we celebrated the 13th annual Art of Science Exhibition with close to 100 submissions by artists from 30 unique departments. The exhibition also welcomed around 200 guests coming to support the artists’ work. Thank you to all the wonderful artists, judges, organizers, sponsors, and audiences who made this event possible!
